  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing

    The curriculum at the PRI College of Sciences is a 4-year enriched program as noted in the addition of a foreign language, which is Spanish.

    In the English subjects, TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is integrated to significantly help you in the mastery of this language, which is of utmost importance when you choose to work overseas. During the second semester of the graduating students, review program on CGFNS/NCLEX, & TOEFL-iBt will be offered to facilitate and enhance employability in the U.S. and other countries.

    It is a privilege to have the San Fernandino Hospital located at the City of San Fernando, Pampanga as the base hospital of the Nursing Course of the PRI-Guagua campus and the St. Martin de Porres Charity Hospital in San Juan, Metro Manila for the PRI-Quezon City campus. The hospitals are tertiary referral hospitals, which are departmentalized and teaching hospitals. The exposure, experience and sharing of skills and expertise with the clinical instructors will be most valuable to you as clinical application of your theoretical background is of paramount importance.

    Job Outlook

    The Nursing Profession has expanded and the demand has grown at an accelerated rate in recent years especially in the first world countries. This is attributed to the low population rate and the difficulty in pursuing the nursing course in these countries. Retirement of middle-aged and older nurses has depleted the workforce globally in recent years. As necessary, the outsourcing of nursing graduates from other countries has resulted in the recent demand for nursing professionals.

    It is noteworthy to emphasize how significant nursing graduates have become to hospital operations and the substantial part they play in the healthcare workforce. As the population grows, more hospitals, medical centers, and outpatient clinics will be established and subsequently, more nurses will be needed to serve the greater number of patients.

    As a nursing student graduates from our institution, we make sure that the student is aided into acquiring the professional license needed in order to reach stable employment, by providing adequate review preparation and completion of scholastic requirements.

  • Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy

    Physical Therapy is a 5-year allied medical health profession concerned with the rehabilitation and treatment of individuals with disabilities resulting from injury or illness.

    Our institution offers the Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy course curriculum that is recognized by the Foreign Credential Committee in Physical Therapy and International Agency of the U.S.A.

    The Physical Therapy programs are aimed to achieve the highest level of functional independence through the use of physical modalities and agents, therapeutic and exercise programs for individuals with physical disorders like muscle weakness, pains and limited movements of joints, which may be caused by injury or illness. The patients who need Physical Therapy programs are referred form the different spectra of medical specialties like Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, Rheumatology, Geriatrics, Internal Medicine, and Sports Medicine which makes it a versatile profession.

    Job Outlook

    The advantage of being a PRI graduate of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy is that the PRI has access to the largest outpatient facilities network in Central Luzon since 1981. Employment opportunities are always readily available for PRI graduates in these facilities.

    Graduates in Physical Therapy may find work in hospitals, free-standing outpatient Rehabilitation Centers and clinics, nursing homes and facilities, schools and educational or research centers, hospices, corporate and industrial health centers, Sports Medicine and athletic training facilities and fitness centers.

    Physical Therapists are independent health professionals in the U.S.A. and may be considered consultants in their field of expertise. Thus, compensation is relatively high, most especially after pursuing higher levels of learning such as Masteral and Doctorate Degrees.

  • Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy

    Occupational Therapy is a 5-year allied medical health profession, involved in the rehabilitation and treatment of individuals with disability. Occupational Therapy makes use of strategic and purposeful activities and techniques, designed to provide potential benefits in achieving functional outcome.

    Individuals, who may be limited by a physical illness or injury, a dysfunctional condition, a mental illness, a cognitive impairment, a psychosocial dysfunction, or a developmental or learning disability may benefit from Occupational Therapy programs by developing, improving, and restoring their highest possible level of independence.

    Job Outlook

    Graduates can find work in hospitals, free-standing Rehabilitation Centers or clinics, special education schools, home health institutions and agencies, day care treatment centers, and institutional and community mental health centers.

    The international market demand has remained high all over the U.S.A., Canada and Asia. Professional fees are relatively competitive.

  • Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology

    Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology is a 4-year course that deals with the study of the application of various radiant energies (i.e. x-rays) to humans for diagnostic, therapeutic or research purposes, which include ways of minimizing risks. The knowledge of the various physical principles involved in diagnostic imaging and its therapeutic applications, as well as the skills in proper positioning of patients in the different procedures called for employing the appropriate exposure factors to achieve the desired results, are also included in the study.

    Job Outlook

    PRI College of Sciences Guagua Campus is the only school in Pampanga that offers Radiologic Technology. Graduates are sought for in the diagnostic traditional X-ray and imaging centers of tertiary hospitals, free-standing outpatient laboratories and clinics with CT Scan, MRI, X-ray and Ultrasonography facilities.

    In most recent years, it has been noted that Radiologic Technologists are getting scarce locally due to the significant increasing demand for Radiologic technologists in the U.S.A., Europe and Asia.

  • Bachelor of Science in Hospital Management (Q.C. Campus Only)

    The Hospital Manager of the 21st century is considered to be one of the most important member of the healthcare team. Although it is a pioneer course in the Philippines, it is widely accepted among a large number of hospital owners/administrators that there is a great need for this course as the healthcare industry continues to expand and offers a wide variety of interesting and challenging opportunities to graduates of this program. Graduates of this course are in great demand in private physician's offices; medical and surgical clinics; medical centers/hospitals; private care facilities; insurance companies; health maintenance organizations (HMOs); medical laboratories; and retirement homes/home for the aged and orphanages.

    Today's Hospital Managers will often be required to perform various administrative tasks. The course is designed to provide students with comprehensive training in the different settings in the hospital, as well as many other functions. They may serve in the information center of the hospital, facilitating information to the public, organizing and maintaining paper and electronic files, managing projects, analyzing spreadsheets, producing correspondence, and providing overall back up for the Hospital Administrator. They use computers to run spreadsheets, work processing, and database management. They can also handle medical record keeping/filing, medical billing and encoding, which ensures the efficiency and continuation of the business of the hospital.

    Under a general Hospital Administrator, graduates will be middle level office managers designated to handle the process in the functioning of their areas of responsibility in the hospital. They will be tasked to manage a number of departments in the hospital at one given time, which aims to decentralize authority, increase employee involvement at lower levels of the organization, restructure decision-making process, and encourage more innovative and forward thinking.

    Healthcare is one of the fastest growing fields in the country, offering outstanding career opportunities for the trained professionals. The healthcare industry is expected to increase significantly within the next several years as the health services industry expands due to technological advances in medicine and a growing and aging population. Employment growth will also be driven by the increase in the number of group practices, clinics, and other healthcare facilities that needs a high proportion of support personnel, particularly the Hospital Manager who can handle administrative duties.

    This entry-level occupation provides basic training and experience and serves as a stepping stone to a more highly sensitive position like Hospital Administrator, following a post-graduate master's course.

  • Caregiving NCII

    In the last several years, the Caregivers have become indispensable to the healthcare field. Clients ranging from the elderly individuals, disabled or healthy, and children, have become reliant on Caregivers to perform a wide range of tasks, and their responsibilities continue to expand as the need for their services grow.

    The Caregiver training program provides the educational background and skills in the care of the elderly person and child. Certified Caregivers are expected to be knowledgeable in basic health and illness; nutrition; first aid and emergency; personality development and mental health and home management. Reinforcement of communication skills and basic computer background are also included in the curriculum.

    The Instructional Practicum in the application of theoretical knowledge to the actual situation in the care of the clients is done in the different health agencies under the close supervision of clinical instructors in the home of the aged, orphanage and the Philippine National Red Cross.

    Job Outlook

    The job outlook for Caregivers is very positive. Employment of certified Caregivers is expected to grow much faster through the coming years.

    General prolongation of the life span expectancy through improved medical technologies and better healthcare will fuel the demand for their services. This is significantly noted in the first world countries, where population growth has been minimal in the last couple of decades, resulting in less number of younger individuals in the healthcare workforce to provide care for the elderly and even the young individuals.

    In the Philippines, the 2.5% population rate does not auger well for the populace. There will be fewer resources for a large number of people, resulting in less people being able to afford higher levels of education. Population growth and a greater number of people getting older will see the demand for personnel, who will need shorter courses to take care of them.

  • 1-Year Health Care Services NCII (Nursing Aide)

    All over the world, nursing practice has a long history involving assistance personnel such as the Nursing Aide. For decades, the nursing aide assisted nurses in giving basic nursing care and work under the supervision of Registered Nurses (RNs) and in some cases by Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses (LPNs/LVNs). The Nursing Aide also assists with admissions and discharges in hospitals and long-term care facilities.

    The Nursing Aide Program provides the knowledge and skills necessary to give basic nursing care such as meeting the hygiene, safety, nutrition, exercise, elimination, and oxygen needs of patients and residents of healthcare facilities and other related functional which include lifting, transferring and moving patients and residents; observing them, and helping promote physical comfort.

    Job Outlook

    The graduates will have the chance to work not just locally but also globally in both public and private hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers and hospice care facilities. With the increasing demand for the Nursing Aides, the job outlook is quite high.

  • Clinical Manager's Course

    The Clinical Manager's Course is specifically designed to meet the managerial needs of clinical support services to oversee the day-to-day competent and efficient operations of different health care settings.

    This course has been designed to provide the competent and efficient manpower that is necessary to manage clinical healthcare settings for the proper delivery of services and ultimately -- for better outcome.

    Job Outlook

    The 1-year Clinical Manager's Course on Operations Management was developed upon the prodding of healthcare course graduates who have gone to the U.S.A. They have come to realize that if they carry a certificate on this program, they have an added advantage into landing a job in the administrative level of the healthcare organization. The additional knowledge in Clinical Management will allow the graduates to have more access to other various interesting work opportunities in the healthcare field, which are otherwise unavailable to the ordinary graduate.

  • Medical Transcription NCII

    One of the priority areas in ICT development is the Medical Transcription (MT) due to the fact that the Philippines still has a shortage of Medical Transcriptionists. Thus, PRI offers the Medical Transcription Program for both High School Graduates (Basic Medical Transcription) and for non-medical course (Certificate Program for Medical Transcription).

    These programs are concerned with the process of converting dictated recordings made by physicians and other healthcare professionals and transcribe them into medical reports.

    In particular, these programs will also cover on how to perform computer operations, apply safety practices in the workplace, maintain quality standards, use of business technology and medical terminology to carry out tasks, produce text from audio transcription, review/edit documents, manage the activities of a work team and leads a work team in delivering quality service.

    Job Outlook

    Medical Transcriptionists (MTs) have the option to work locally or abroad. They can also choose to work from home or opting for part-time and flexible work schedules. Primarily, MTs can find work in hospitals, clinics, doctors' offices, and other private transcription companies.

    It is considered as a lucrative career because of its flexibility and the chance to earn more.
